Why test and tag?

Other than the obvious legal reasons for Testing and Tagging, the main reason is Safety.  In the world we live in today, you can’t afford not to do everything within your power to ensure that you and your employees’ activities are made as safe as possible.  By having all of your ‘plug in’ electrical equipment Inspected, Tested and Tagged on a regular basis you are enabling any damaged or unsafe equipment to be found and repaired or removed from service before anyone is seriously injured or killed by it.

What must be Tested and Tagged?

All ‘Plug In’ type electrical equipment must be Inspected, Tested and Tagged on a regular basis; the interval of which depends on what type of environment the equipment is to be used in.  Equipment such as;

  • Power Tools
  • Extension Leads
  • Power Board Outlets
  • Computers
  • Monitors
  • Fax Machines
  • Printers
  • Bench Grinders
  • Drill Presses
  • Welders
  • All portable ‘Plug In’ appliances, etc
