Q. What is testing and tagging?
A. Testing and tagging is the procedure for the safety checking of electrical appliances. Electrical cords and appliances are not meant to last forever, and in many cases the first hint you have that there is a problem with a cord, is an electrical fire, or someone receiving an electrical shock from the faulty cord or appliance.
Commonsense and government legislation demand that workplaces be able to demonstrate safe systems of work, including electrical safety. Electrical appliances such as power tools and kettles are items that are most frequently handled by employees, and are also the most open to abuse which can cause them to become electrically unsafe. Therefore, regular testing and inspection of each individual appliance is a necessity to ensure the safety of your workers.
